Australia and Japan have struck a significant defence deal worth billions of dollars to build the Royal Australian Navy’s newest warships. The agreement will see Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Megami-class frigate selected as the preferred platform for Australia’s future general purpose frigates, with the first ship to be in service within five years.
