Australia’s relationship with Israel has deteriorated after the Australian government’s announcement to formally recognize a sovereign state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has launched a scathing personal attack on Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, accusing him of being a weak politician who has betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia’s Jews.
