ANU Astrophysicist and Cosmologist Dr Brad Tucker discusses calls for Australia to join the European Space Agency (ESA) so it can collaborate on global space projects and support the expansion of our national space sector.
“There’s a lot of benefits of formally joining ESA … we’re going to work on projects and collaborate, ESA is designed so that, like in a lot of European infrastructure, every country has their own program, but they work under a larger umbrella for joint projects,” Dr Tucker told Sky News Australia.
“It probably could be of huge benefit for us to join ESA to allow to be directly able to contribute to new projects … without having to go through agreements and treaties and signings all the time.”
